Hosted annually by the DV8 Malibu Club Inc., this was the 25th Annual Skipp Banana Malibu Classic and was held on Saturday February 13 2010 at Little Park.

This year saw the appearance of the surfer who the contest was originally named after. To make a long story short; this surfer went to Hawaii to take on the big waves. The original message got a bit mixed up, because instead of saying that he was getting killed by the big surf, the message came back that he HAD been killed by the big surf. In tribute to their friend, the DV8's started the Banana Memorial Longboard Contest.

The huge wind from the night before, fortunately did not mess the conditions up. There was a distinct lack of wind all day. The rain came in fits 'n bursts, but certainly did not bucket down as a lot of people were predicting.

Surf stayed around the 2 - 3 foot mark, with the occasional bigger one sneaking through.

The local free surfers were great, leaving the entire break to the contestants.

There were about 43 contestants doing battle in 8 Divisions.

A couple of new divisions were trialled this year (Old Mal and 8-Footers).

The day finished with the Competitor Draw for heaps of goodies supplied by a variety of sponsors, and then there was an Auction held for two new boards (one from Skipp Boards and the other from GSI). Both valued at around $1300 - $1400 each). They ended up going for $550 and $750 respectively. What a bargain.
