2011
LOGGER HEADS MALIBU CLASSIC
July 22 - 24
- Day One
- One to three foot swell along the beach.
- The swell at the Point was much bigger, but was heading
in the wrong direction.
- Fortunately there was enough swell bending around
the Point and making it into the beach.
- Day Two
- Again it was roughly the same swell size, but it was
coming in at a slightly different angle.
- Lots of backwash.
- Not very contestable at the inside of the Point.
- Most contestants opting to surf the outside break.
- Day Three (FINALS Day)
- First couple of Finals were held out at the Point,
but due to size and direction of the swell the decision was made to relocate
to the beach break in front of the Bowlo. The Point was basically a "surf
for survival" wave with very little opportunity for turning / performance
surfing.
- It was a good decision, as the Bowlo break had (rideable)
waves for the entire contest.
