Well,
Huey certainly delivered the goods for the two-day Magoo Charity Classic (yet
again)
Over this two day weekend, a total of 11 divisions were run & won
Saturday started a little drizzly, on a high tide, with
some great smooth faces for the competitors to work on
Saturday remained virtually windless until (literally) 10-minutes after the
last heat was run
At that stage the wind came up and blew the crap out of
the line-up
Saturday evening at the Beachcomber Hotel saw a big get-together of contestants
and friends for the Charity Classic Auction
Sunday dawned clear and some more great little swells
The wind was up a bit on the day before, but the swell was still there
Overall, the free-surfers were reasonably well-behaved
The Judges tent had to be dismantled before it got blown over, with the Judging
Panel being relocated in an upstairs observation tower
The finals were held in some pretty good little waves
At the Presentation, it was announced
that in excess of $12,500 had been collected for the Kids Cancer Charity.
Another successful Magoo
held in the Aloha Spirit
The only negative on the whole weekend
was when some low-life decided it is easy to use other people's money / goods,
rather than work for it like any normal person, as a couple of cars in the
carpark were broken into and things were stolen - good on ya, you skunk!
